[ARCHIVED] Help Re-envision the Woodbridge Business District

2030 Task Force Community Meeting Flyer

The Woodbridge 2030 Task Force invites residents, Woodbridge business owners and other interested parties to a public information session on Thursday Sep. 15 at 6 pm at New England Brewing Co., 175 Amity Rd.

First Selectman Beth Heller created the 2030 Task Force and tasked the members – co-chairs Chris Dickerson and Susan Jacobs, members Chris Lovejoy, Garett Luciani, Jeremy Rosner and Teri Schatz – with finding ways to grow and diversify the Town’s grand list by 2030. The group is currently concentrating on making the Town’s business district more attractive for businesses and consumers. To that end they are working with two consultants, Pirie Associates and SLR (which is focusing on pedestrian and cycling infrastructure and is funded through a State grant).

"I hope all residents take advantage of the opportunity to work with and inform the 2030 Task Force's mission to improve our business district and grow our tax base," said First Selectman Beth Heller. "I’d like to thank all the members of the task force for their efforts. I'm excited to see these concepts and ideas become a reality."

"We encourage everyone to attend this meeting,” said co-chair Chris Dickerson. “All residents and business owners have a stake in growing and diversifying our tax base, and your input is valuable.”

To date the 2030 Task Force has visited other area towns whose business districts are bisected by State highways. They have also reviewed the Economic Development Commission’s resident survey regarding the business district and surveys of local businesses. The Task Force is in close communications with the Economic Development Commission (EDC), which has been focused on supporting existing businesses.

This public information session will be an opportunity to share ideas with the Task Force and its consultants. At a later meeting the Task Force and consultants will present concepts based on the ideas gathered at this first session.
