Per Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 9R, the Town of Woodbridge is pleased to announce a Tax Deferment Program for eligible taxpayers impacted by COVID 19, by application only, which will apply to taxes due on January 1, 2021. The effect of this program is the equivalent of an extended grace period.
The deferment does not apply to taxes due prior to January 2021. Escrow agents are still expected to remit tax payments per regular timetable that is by February 1, 2021 as the last day to pay. Anyone with delinquent taxes will not qualify.
The tax deferment applications are available here and should be mailed to Town Hall care of Tax Office, 11 Meetinghouse Lane, Woodbridge CT 06525. The application and all supporting documentation must be received at the Woodbridge Tax Office no later than January 20, 2021. The deadline to pay taxes for eligible taxpayers is deferred to April 1, 2021 without interest. Interest will be charged on any payments made by eligible taxpayers after April 1, 2021 back to the original due date.
Please call the Tax Office at 203-389-3425 if you prefer to have an application mailed to you or if you have questions. For those who do not file a deferment application or are determined to be ineligible for the program, taxes are due on January 1, 2021 and are past due if not paid by February 1, 2021.
