[ARCHIVED] Drug Take Back Box Installed at Police Station

Drug Take Back Box

Woodbridge residents now have a place to drop off their unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

The Woodbridge Police Department has a newly installed drug take-back box thanks to donations from the Rotary Club of Woodbridge and the Bethany Orange Woodbridge Drug and Alcohol Action Committee (BOWDAAC).

The green metal box is inside the Police Department (4 Meetinghouse Lane) lobby. Visitors must be buzzed into the lobby and access to the drop-off box is available 24 hours a day.

“Given the severity of the opioid addiction problem across the country and the easy access that children have to prescription drugs, we believe this simple tool will help us keep Woodbridge residents safe,” said Police Chief Frank Cappiello.

Residents may dispose of any of the following items in the box: Prescription medications, ointments or patches, over-the-counter medication, pet medication and vitamins. Not accepted are syringes, thermometers, inhalers, lotions or liquids, aerosol cans, hydrogen peroxide or medications discarded from businesses or clinics.
