[ARCHIVED] First Selectman Alerts Residents to Optimum Compensation Options

Woodbridge First Selectman Ellen Scalettar wants to alert all local Optimum customers that they can receive some compensation for the loss of channel WFSB during the months of January, February and March.

The blackout of CBS programming was caused by a dispute between two companies – Altice USA (which owns Optimum) and Meredith Corporation, which owns WFSB. First Selectman Ellen Scalettar wrote a letter to the two asking that residents receive reimbursement for the paid-for but denied services.

“I am pleased that these two companies settled their dispute and now Woodbridge residents can, once again, watch local news and local sporting events,” said Scalettar. “We are publishing this information because I am concerned that not enough residents are aware of their compensation options.”

All Optimum customers who call customer service (203-870-2491) or visit an Optimum store to ask about what is available for the loss of WFSB can receive three free months of one of the following channels:

  • Showtime, Showtime On Demand (including Showtime Anytime)
  • Starz & Encore, Starz On Demand & Encore On Demand
  • TMC, TMC On Demand

In addition, customers who had signed up for free CBS All Access before March 18 (the date the dispute ended), will receive service at no cost for the entire month of March.
