Overview

The Economic Development Commission (EDC) is the local governmental body responsible for the promotion and development of the business and industrial resources of the Town of Woodbridge.

The mission of the Economic Development Commission is to enhance and diversify the economic base of our community. The EDC will collaborate with businesses, organizations and Town departments with a goal to improve the Town economy and quality of life for those who live and work in Woodbridge. The EDC will promote, support and develop economic resources for new and existing businesses.

In 2013 the EDC worked with the Yale Urban Design Workshop and local businesses to create the Village Development Concept Plan.

Duties

The EDC conducts research into business conditions in the Town and seeks to coordinate the activities of unofficial bodies organized for such purposes. The Commission also advertises, prepares, and distributes information which will further its official purposes. The EDC was established and is governed by provisions of the Woodbridge Town Charter, Chapter 75, Article VII.

For More Information

For more information on the establishment, purpose, duties and more of the EDC, please read the Town Charter.

In 2021 the EDC conducted a survey of what Woodbridge residents want in the business district. An analysis of the results are here.
