Yoga with Diane King

The two pillars of hatha yoga are steadiness and ease. Through our practice, we create physical and mental stamina, balanced by learning to relax and to flow with grace and gratitude through our individual and collective life. Emphasis will be placed on the breath as the mediator of stability.

Beginning September 14, and continuing through October, yoga will be held in the outdoor covered area in front of the old library, facing Newton Road. No classes Monday, Sept. 28 (Yom Kippur) or Columbus Day, October 12. The 60 minute classes will be Mondays at 10:30 and 5:30, and Wednesday at 12:30. The classes will be mostly standing postures, breathing (pranayama), and a qigong (tai chi like) flow will substitute for the usual lying down relaxation. Participants must bring their own mat.

To maintain social distancing, only 8 people can fit under the canopy, but others might spread to the sides if weather permits. Cost is $10/class. If you are in doubt whether the class will be held because of weather, or if you have other questions, text Diane King up to 15 minutes before class (203 494-3745) or contact the Recreation Department (203 389-3446).
