The Building Department is pleased to announce that effective April 1, 2020, applications for all building related permits: building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, swimming pool, demolition, temporary tents and Zoning (for building footprints, additions, sheds, etc.) will be able to be submitted online via the View Point online permitting program at :

The online program will be available to both homeowners and contractors to apply for permits.  To utilize the online permit program the user must have an email address and if they do not already have one, will need to create a user ID for View Point.  The steps for creating a user ID is explained once a user opens the foregoing View Point program link.  Acceptable forms of payment for applications submitted online will be credit card or e-check.

Applicants can still come to the Building Department to submit applications where a desk is set up with a computer for use in submitting applications.   Applications submitted online in the Building Department can be paid for in cash in addition to credit card or check.

The View Point Online Permitting Program will automatically link the application submittals to the Woodbridge Tax Office, Quinnipiack Valley Health District and Woodbridge Fire Marshal for appropriate signoffs as necessary.  The View Point program allows permit applications to be reviewed online by the Building Official and staff so if additional information is required that will be communicated by email.  Once deemed complete, permits will be issued electronically through the View Point system.  Once inspections are complete relative to a specific permit a Certificate of Approval or Certificate of Occupancy will be electronically issued to close out that permit.

Historical permit data from the Building Departments previous electronic permit system which began in July 2008 will be available to view online.  Other historical data that is in the Building Department files prior to July 2008 is still available for public review by coming in person to the Building Department during regular office hours.

Inspections for permits will still be scheduled by contacting the Building Department at 203-389-3419 during regular office hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Building Official typically conducts inspections between 8 am and 9 am and 11 am to noon Monday through Friday.

Office appointments with the Building Official prior to the submission of an application can be also be made by contacting the Building Department at 203-389-3419 during regular office hours.
